Governor Mark Gordon orders flags to half-staff for Patriot Day

Governor Mark Gordon has ordered the American and Wyoming state flags to half-staff statewide on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, in observance of Patriot Day and in keeping with yearly Presidential proclamations. The order honors the 2,977 innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, along with the heroic first responders, military service members, and citizens who selflessly responded.

Flags are to remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset. Wyoming also joins in observing a national moment of silence at 6:46 a.m. MDT, marking the moment the first plane struck the World Trade Center.

The observance reflects both remembrance and gratitude, recognizing the tragedy of that day and the courage, resilience, and unity shown in its aftermath. The order applies statewide and includes both the American and Wyoming state flags.
