Governor Green orders flags to half-staff for Patriot Day

Governor Josh Green has ordered the United States and Hawaiʻi state flags lowered to half-staff for Patriot Day, marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The observance honors the 2,977 people killed at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and recognizes the thousands more who were injured, along with first responders and survivors who continue to live with attack-related illnesses.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, Sept. 11. The order applies at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol, all state offices and agencies, and Hawaiʻi National Guard facilities statewide.

The day is set aside to remember the lives lost and the courage shown in the aftermath of the attacks. The governor called for continued unity, compassion, and service in honor of those affected.
