Governor Kim Reynolds orders flags to half-staff for 9/11 anniversary

Governor Kim Reynolds orders flags to half-staff for the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, honoring Patriots Day and remembering the nearly 3,000 people killed that day. The observance also recognizes the eight known victims with Iowa connections, including people from Newton, Waverly, Ames, Council Bluffs, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and West Des Moines.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, September 11, 2026. The order covers the State Capitol Building, the Capitol Complex, and all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout Iowa.

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to lower flags for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
