Governor Kim Reynolds orders flags to half-staff for Dolly Parton

Governor Kim Reynolds ordered flags in Iowa to be flown at half-staff in honor and remembrance of Dolly Parton.

The governor said the order is in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Trump as a mark of respect for Dolly Parton, who died Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Flags are to be flown at half-staff effective immediately until sunset on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026.

The order applies to the State Capitol Building and flag displays in the Capitol Complex, as well as all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
