Governor Beshear orders flags to half-staff for Patriot Day

Gov. Andy Beshear has directed flags at all state office buildings to be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Sept. 11, to commemorate Patriot Day and honor those lost in the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago.

The order recognizes the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and asks individuals, businesses and organizations throughout Kentucky to join in the tribute. It applies to state office buildings across the commonwealth.

Patriot Day is observed on Sept. 11, and the flags are to remain at half-staff for the day. Kentucky’s flag status guidance also identifies Patriot Day as a day when the U.S. flag is flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.
