Governor Mikie Sherrill orders flags to half-staff for September 11 victims

Governor Mikie Sherrill orders U.S. and New Jersey flags to be flown at half-staff on Friday, September 11, 2026, in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks and in mourning for those from New Jersey who were among the dead. The order also recognizes the first responders, service members, law enforcement officers, intelligence officers, and others whose lives were shaped by the attacks and the recovery efforts that followed.

The lowering applies during appropriate hours across all state departments, offices, agencies, instrumentalities, and public buildings throughout New Jersey. The order takes effect immediately.

The proclamation marks the 25th anniversary of September 11 as a day of solemn remembrance across the state, reflecting on the patriotism, compassion, and sacrifice associated with the attacks and their aftermath.
