Governor Tim Walz orders flags to half-staff for Reverend Jesse Jackson

Governor Tim Walz orders all United States flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at state buildings across Minnesota in honor and remembrance of Reverend Jesse Jackson. The order recognizes Jackson’s life of civil rights leadership, his work for economic justice and human dignity, and his long influence on public life in Minnesota and across the nation.

Jackson was a national leader in the Civil Rights Movement, worked alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, founded the Rainbow PUSH Coalition in 1971, and became a prominent voice for voter registration, social justice, and expanded opportunity. The order also notes his decades of advocacy for workers and families, immigrants and refugees, and communities pushed to the margins.

Flags are to remain at half-staff from sunrise on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, to sunset on Thursday, February 26, 2026. The order applies to all state buildings in Minnesota.
