Governor Laura Kelly orders flags to half-staff for the 25th anniversary of 9/11

Governor Laura Kelly orders flags throughout Kansas to half-staff on Friday, September 11, 2026, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The observance recognizes the nearly 3,000 Americans killed that day, the thousands more who were injured, and the first responders whose bravery saved countless lives.

The order applies statewide and lowers the United States flag from sunup to sundown. It follows Executive Order #20-30 and marks a quarter-century since the attacks that permanently changed the lives of victims, families, and communities across the country.

Kansas joins the nation in remembering the lives lost and the service and sacrifice shown during and after the attacks. The flags return to full staff at sunset.
