Governor Hochul honors 9/11 victims, survivors and first responders

Governor Kathy Hochul honors the victims, survivors and first responders of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. In remembrance of those who lost their lives, including 84 employees of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and 40 state employees from the Department of Taxation and Finance, flags are ordered to fly at half-staff across New York State.

The order includes the 9/11 Memorial Flag at the State Capitol and Empire State Plaza, along with other flags subject to the statewide directive. The lowering is set for sunrise to sunset on September 11, aligning with the day of observance.

The commemoration also recognizes the resilience of New York City and the lasting impact of the attacks on families, survivors and first responders. Alongside the flag order, 17 landmarks across the state are illuminated red, white and blue in evening tribute.
