Governor orders flags to half-staff for Patriot Day

By order of the Governor, flags over the State Capitol and all state office buildings will be flown at half-staff for Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. The observance honors the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the families forever changed by that tragedy, the first responders and civilians who rushed into danger to save others, and the men and women who have served in defense of the nation in the years since.

The lowering applies from sunrise until sunset on Friday, September 11. The order covers the State Capitol and all state office buildings, reflecting a statewide directive for those public facilities.

The commemoration joins national remembrance of September 11 with recognition of service and sacrifice. Flags return to full staff at sunset.
