Federal law requests that the U.S. flag be displayed at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The observance honors the service members and civilians who died in the December 7, 1941 attack and remembers the sacrifice that drew the nation into World War II.
Public Law 107-51 provides for the U.S. flag to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset for the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. This observance honors firefighters who died in service to their communities and invites the country to pause in gratitude for their sacrifice.
